I can't help but think of the flash crash as anything but a golden rare arbitrage opportunity.  Sure, visually the price of an asset has just diminished to near naught before your eyes but the intrinsic/economic value of the assets hasn't actually changed.  Imagine buying something that's worth 20+ times what you paid (such as ACN during the flash crash).  Give it a bit of time and our capital markets will correct this inefficiency; the asset will converge with what it's really worth.
