[PAUSE] Let’s take a closer look at what makes up an option deal in MT4. Hover over a symbol in the Market Watch and see a full description of the option. You’ll see • Option type – a Call or a Put represented by a ‘C’ or ‘P’. You may Buy a Call option if you are expecting the market to go up or you may Buy a Put if you are expecting the market to go down • After the hashtag you’ll see your currency pair • Then the Strike Price – you can choose from 3 different strike prices available for each contract. Plus 2 means the strike price is 100 pips above the market price Zero means that the strike is at market price or “at the money” and minus 2 means the strike is 100 pips below the market price. The strike price becomes available as soon as the previous contract has expired and does not change until its own expiry. • And you’ll see the Expiry date and time which is represented as a ‘D’ for ‘day’ or ‘W’ for week. One day expiry takes place at 10am Eastern Standard Time (or EST) Weekly expiry takes place every Friday at 10 EST. After that, new contracts become available with the new strike price and expiry date. Finally, the bid and ask price you see is the Premium Price of buying or selling an option. This is multiplied by the volume you select to trade. [PAUSE] Are you ready to open an option deal? In this example we will Buy a call option on euro/dollar with a one week expiry and strike price …. We do this as we expect the euro to gain value before the expiry date. The symbol for this option is ‘C ‘(for Call option) ‘EURUSD’ (the underlying asset) ‘W’ (1 week expiry) ‘Plus 2’ meaning the strike price is 100 pips above the current market at the time the contract was made. Now, set your desired contract size. For this example we will trade one Lot. And to reduce the premium you might lose, set a stop loss on your options trade. You can also lock in profits by setting a take profit order. Both stop loss and take profit orders can be set at a range based around the premium. Now, simply click “Buy” and the option will appear in your MT4 terminal with all your other trades. Remember that with MT4 Option CFDs you can close your option at any time even before the expiration day. There are no swap charges. And all options can be seen on the charts. In our next video we will discuss the margin calculation of the option contracts.
